Pastor Enters Army Chaplaincy

Haddon Heights Baptist Church, Haddon Heights, N.J., held a commissioning service for Pastor Derek Mosher on Dec. 12. Pastor Mosher has been accessed to the Army chaplaincy and reports for training in January. Upon completion of the Chaplain Basic Officer and Leadership Course, he will receive orders to an Army installation to begin his chaplaincy ministry.

Mosher is a graduate of Baptist Bible College and Biblical Theological Seminary. He has ministered at Haddon Heights Baptist for 10 years, first as youth pastor and then as senior pastor. Chaplain John Murdoch, director of Regular Baptist Chaplaincy Ministries, was the main speaker for the commissioning service. Haddon Heights Baptist now considers the Moshers a missionary family. Though the Moshers do not need financial support, since chaplains are paid from the Department of Defense budget, the family will receive regular prayer support and will maintain accountability to their home church.

A farewell reception was held after the evening service. Derek and his wife, Jessica, have two children and are expecting their third. Please pray for them as they transition into this new ministry, and for Haddon Heights Baptist Church as they seek God’s leading of a new pastor.
