Chaplaincy Director Speaks in Elyria, Ohio

By June 10, 2021No Comments

ELYRIA, Ohio—Regular Baptist Chaplaincy Director Manning Brown spoke at First Baptist Church May 30.

“I was contacted a year and a half ago to speak at First Baptist,” Manning says. “As travel restrictions went into place due to COVID-19, the date just kept getting pushed back. The church secretary and I become pen pals—well, email pals—trying to coordinate calendars.”

In honor of Memorial Day, the theme of the service was a remembrance of those who sacrificed while serving our country.

“My family has a long history of military service that can be traced back to the American Revolution and moves forward to my oldest son, who serves in the Air Force,” Manning says. “Honoring those who gave their lives for our freedoms today and for the generations to come is paramount.”

Using examples from the Bible, he spoke on the character values of courage and selflessness and their importance in Christians’ lives. He also cited how Regular Baptist chaplains demonstrate those traits in their daily ministries.

“It was an honor to have had the opportunity to speak,” Manning says. “My wife, Jennifer, and I are excited about sharing the chaplaincy ministry with our churches whenever there is opportunity.”
