Marine Corps League Toys for Tots

CORTLAND, N.Y.—Members of Faith Baptist Church and community volunteers joined the Cortland County Marine Corps League to make Toys for Tots a great success. Individuals, families, and the college and career group hauled, sorted, wrapped, and tagged 272 bags of gifts for area children. Distributing the gifts were (in photo, from left) Kevin Grewe (League scribe/historian), “Santa” Matt Anderson (sergeant at arms), and Norm Stitzel (commandant/chaplain, Toys for Tots coordinator, and GARBC lay chaplain), all members of Faith Baptist Church.

The greatest seed-planting opportunity of this ministry was the DVDs placed in 250 bags, Stitzel reports. Really Woolly: The Gift of Christmas presents the Biblical Christmas story, explains the way to salvation, and references an interactive website where kids can find more Bible stories and lessons on the Christian life. A sticker on the back of every DVD case gives the contact information for Faith Baptist Church. The $1,272 cost for the DVDs was covered by a small group from Faith Baptist that continually supports the ministry in this way.
