D.C. Area Chaplains Meet

GARBC chaplains in the Washington, D.C., area have been meeting quarterly to pray for one another’s ministry, encourage each other in the faith, and fellowship around the Word. Recently they met at the D.C. Fire and EMS Museum located at Engine Company 3, where they were given a tour explaining the history of the District of Columbia Fire and EMS Department. After lunch, they walked to the U.S. Capital for a private religious tour given by the chaplain’s office. One of the highlights was seeing the Pennsylvania statue of John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg. Muhlenberg was a pastor of a local church who, at the end of a sermon, took off his clergy robe and put on a military uniform and joined the Continental Army. He encouraged his congregation to do the same, and that day 300 men joined in the efforts of the Revolutionary War. After the tour, the GARBC chaplains prayed on the steps of the Capital for their ministries, their country, and their leaders.
