Chaplains Gather Before GARBC Annual Conference

Each year Regular Baptist chaplains gather before the GARBC Annual Conference for a day of fellowship and professional development. This is always a time of renewing friendships, sharing experiences, and bonding in their shared faith and calling, even before the great conference preaching begins. It is not unusual for some of the chaplains to meet other Regular Baptist chaplains for the first time and enjoy a greater sense of family.

Dr. Alan Ingalls, associate professor of Old Testament Languages and Literature at Baptist Bible Seminary, met with the chaplains on Monday, June 25, at the school’s Clarks Summit, Pa., campus to discuss developing and presenting meaningful, 10-minute messages “in the field” from the book of Ecclesiastes. His practical instruction was designed to help institutional and community service chaplains as well as military chaplains.

A highlight of each year’s conference is the Corps Vets reception, when veterans and their families have the opportunity to interact with current chaplains. Dustin Rodriguez, who has served two deployments to Afghanistan, and Mark Worrell, currently assigned to The Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, shared some of their experiences with their audience.

The chaplains extend a special thanks to the staff of Baptist Bible College and Seminary for all their hard work in opening the campus and facilitating the meetings so comfortably all week.
